Way to Get Catfish in Stardew Valley

How To Catch Catfish In Stardew Valley

It's important to note that you can only catch Catfish in freshwater, so the ocean isn't an option. With a difficulty rating of 75, Stardew Valley Catfish are a challenging feat. It is best to practice catching easier fish before attempting to catch catfish. Use a higher fishing rod with bait and level your fishing skill so you have a better chance of catching them.

There are multiple places in Stardew Valley where you can find Catfish at specific times during the game. The Catfish can primarily be found in the river. It can only be caught at this location during the fall or spring seasons and only while it is raining. During the spring, summer, and fall seasons, it can also be found in the Secret Woods when it is raining. In spite of this, catfish can be caught at any time of day, so it is easy to fit around other in-game activities.

The Riverside or Hilltop farming plots can also be used to catch catfish, but it must rain in order to do so. The only place to find Catfish during the Winter is in garbage cans around Pelican Town. Catfish are also available in the Witch’s Swamp during the Fall and Spring of the game.

When To Catch Catfish in Stardew Valley

If you want to catch a catfish during the day, you can do it anytime between 6 AM and 12 AM. This sounds easy, but there’s a catch. Catfish can only be caught on rainy days in the spring and fall. Unless you want to get creative! It is easiest to locate a catfish in Stardew Valley by heading to the river in Pelican Town or through Cindersap Forest, but there are several other places where you can find them. There are some places that require some work to find them. You can catch catfish in these locations all year round, including winter, spring, summer, and fall.

Where To Catch Catfish in Stardew Valley

In SDV Secret Woods:

Catfish can only be obtained in the Secret Woods once you unlock this location. (You'll need a steel axe or stronger to complete this quest.) Then head over to the northwest corner of Cindersap Forest and chop a cumbersome log. The Secret Woods can be accessed all year round once you break the log and you can catch catfish, among other fish in Stardew Valley.

Witch’s Swamp:

You'll need patience and time to complete the Dark Talisman Quest, but it's worth the effort if you're also seeking out certain void items. When you have beaten the game and have seen the Railroad Cutscene, talk to Krobus in The Sewers. At the northwest corner of the Sewers, you will be able to locate the Mutant Bug Lair, from which you can collect the Dark Talisman. With the Dark Talisman, you can move the artifact to the cave entrance. Now that the cave has been opened, you will need to offer up some of the void mayonnaise (which you can acquire after you finish the Goblin Problem quest) to deal with the witch's henchman. Get the Magic Ink inside the Swamp and have it delivered to the Wizard in his tower while he is happily slurping up his sludge. The Wizard will then grant you access to the Swamp. This is also one of the places where you can catch catfish in all seasons, if you're willing to put in the work.

How valuable is the Catfish?

Catfish is not a great gift, but it's a really great snack when it comes to energy. The Catfish gives you 50 energy and 22 health at lowest and 90 energy and 40 health at best. With a base price of 200G, the Catfish also makes a very high profit. If you possess the Angler skill, it is possible to earn 450G per fish if it is at its gold star level. If the fish is requested on the help wanted board, it can net you 600G and 150 friendship points from the villager you deliver it to. If you deliver the fish to a villager, you will receive 600G and 150 friendship points from the villager. If request by Willy, he will reward you 200G per requested Catfish and let you keep the catch to sell as a bonus. Whatever you choose to do, we hope that you are blessed with the good fortune of coming across a catfish on one of these rainy days.
