 1. Tachibana Sylphynford from Himouto Umaru-chan Anime - a striking girl with amazing blue hair, Sylphynford is such an interesting character. Raised in Germany by her European Father, she was introduced to Japanese culture by her brother, Alex, who moved to Japan to live with Mom when Sylphynford was still a kid. Absorbing all manner of Japanese culture, she eventually moved over as well. Otaku culture gives her those sweet memories of childhood and she has no need to hide this side of her, it is what grounds her. Going around striking sailor moon-esque poses and ending every sentence with desuwa, it’s almost as though she’s realizes she’s in an anime.

All of these characters are so much fun, often because they are so relatable - they are fans just like us! They definitely make it cool to be an otaku or lover of Anime and Manga, they offer us a sense of belonging because they are so similar to us. Maybe the enjoyability comes from the feeling that we could almost just reach through the screen and connect with our favourite characters.
