30. Pichu

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Hello baby Pokemon! Appearing in Generation 2, we find Pichu, known as the Tiny Mouse Baby. Being the pre evolved form of beloved Pikachu, Pichu has attracted some fame of its own, even appearing in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a playable character. It’s an adorable little critter, although it’s also pretty weak in combat, appearing on the Weakest Pokemon in the Franchise, but it couldn't not make the list as it is ultra adorable!

29. Morpeko

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Another little Pikachu clone is this new addition from Generation 8’s Galar region. It is known as the Two Sided Pokemon and is a cute hamster that turns dark-type when it gets too hangry, thus it is a dual Electric and Dark type Pokemon. It is a Pokemon we can definitely relate to! It carries electrically roasted seeds with it as if they're precious treasures and no matter how much it eats, it always gets hungry again quickly.

28. Pachirisu

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
While also similar to Pikachu, Pachirisu is a little bit different. Its best stat overall is speed, which mean it can get the first hit in during combat. It is an adorable electric squirrel Pokemon creature, a pure Electric-type which means it’s only weak to Ground-type moves. It first appeared in Generation 4, known as the EleSquirrel Pokemon and hails from the Sinnoh region. The winner of the 2014 Pokémon World Championship, Se Jun Park, actually had one of these cute critters on his team and it was one of the assets that brought him victory over Omari Travis in the finals.

27. Oricorio Pom-Pom Style

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Known as the Dancing Pokemon, this adorable bird like Pokemon can change in to different forms. Just one sip of a colored nectar from the islands of Alola and it’s decked out in yellow Pom-Pom style! It is an Electric/Flying-type found naturally on Alola’s Melemele Island. Ever since the advent of mega evolutions in generation 6, form-shifting Pokémon have become more common than ever, meaning there are more shapeshifters among us than ever before! Oricorio is one of the few who has different forms without the need to Gigantamax or anything of the sort and you could say that its moves are electrifying!

26. Emolga

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Hello flying squirrel Pokemon! How adorable is this little critter, I can't help wishing we had these where I live, instead of the usual flying baby spiders. Much less cute. This ultra cute Pokemon is from Generation 5, it is a dual Flying and Electric type Pokémon that likes to live on treetops and ferociously defend its food supply, especially any sweet berries it can get its paws on. This critter isn't as confident in combat as other Pokemon (unless its food is involved) but is an amazing companion to bring along with you in your journey to clear the game and beat the Elite 4 with some nice speed stats and a varied move-set. It appears as a squirrel, almost bat like Pokemon and its natural cape like 'wings' almost look like a costume, which only adds to the cuteness, and it is known widely as the Sky Squirrel Pokemon.

25. Yamper

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Yamper, known as the Puppy Pokémon, is a dog in every sense of the word and even has a feature in Best Dog Pokemon in the Franchise! Loosely based on the Queen’s corgis, it is known to chase after people and vehicles, kinetic energy which its body can turn into electricity, which is released as sparks every time Yamper sprints, as it cannot store its energy, much like a real life puppy. It's one of the absolute cutest Pokémon and was first introduced in Generation 8.

24. Zebstrika

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
An Electric type Pokemon from Generation 5, it is known as the Thunderbolt Pokemon and appears as a zebra with lightening bolt shaped stripes on its body. Now that's something you don't see every day! Being a large equine horse like Pokémon, it naturally boasts amazing speed and has good attack stats too. Its name comes from the sound of thunder it makes as it gallops full speed through the fields. It has one of the coolest designs among the equine-inspired Pokémon and it is the evolved form of Blitzle.

23. Alolan Golem

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Golem in its Alolan form is a dual Rock and Electric type which evolves from Graveler and has a railgun attached to its back, which it can use to fire electrically-charged rocks at its opponents. It has the highest defense stats among the Electric types, making it one of the most resistant pokés in the game. The idea to create region-specific versions of Pokemon critters was one of Game Freak’s greatest ideas as it allows us to re-connect with our old favourite Pokemon in a whole new way! This critter is more of a beast in appearance and looks to be made entirely out of rocks, you could definitely describe it as 'well hard'.

22. Zeraora

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
The only one of its kind so far, this Electric type Mythical Pokemon from Generation 7 is known appropriately as the Thunderclap Pokemon. Little else is known about this mythical Pokémon, other than it is a force to be reckoned with in combat. It is one of the best offensive pivots in the OU metagame thanks to its blistering Speed tier combined with access to Knock Off and Close Combat. Not only boasting incredible speed and very good offensive capabilities, its special ability, Volt Absorb, also means it can heal when being hit by Electric-type attacks, an incredibly powerful ability.

21. Vikavolt

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Power to the bug types! As demonstrated by this tanky Stag Beetle Pokémon, bug types are no longer so dismissable combat-wise in the Pokemon Universe. A dual Bug and Electric type Pokemon from Generation 7, it is known to inhabit the Alolan wilderness after evolving from the cube-larva Charjabug. It has an organ that generates electricity in its abdomen and by concentrating energy in its strong jaws, can shoot powerful jolts of electricity. Other than having very high Sp. Attack - the highest among Bug Pokémon! - this incredible insect has levitate too, making it immune to Ground-type moves. An amazing choice of companion to take with you on your journey through the Alolan region!

20. Manectric

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Known as the Discharge Pokemon, this Generation 3 Electric type has everything to make it a real staple on Electric-based teams. True to name, it is able to discharge large amounts of strong electricity from its mane, which it can use to collect electricity in the atmosphere. It boasts a super spiky, golden mane that sticks up thanks to all that static. Its Speed and Sp. Attack are on par even with Luxray, and its Intimidate ability will let it survive some attacks from even the strongest monsters. In its Mega Manectric form, you'll find it even more powerful since this will boost its stats - and make its hair even spikier!

19. Thundurus

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Floating on a cloud, Thundurus is the first legendary Pokémon in the list! A dual Electric and Flying type Pokemon from the Unova region and Generation 5, it rather looks instead like something out of mythology or some demonic creature. It's fair to say it looks pretty creepy and is generally disliked in the Pokemon Universe as it is a pretty destructive Pokemon, known to fly around, shooting lightning all over the place and causing forest fires here, there and everywhere. The spikes on its tail discharge immense bolts of lightning, hence it is known as the Bolt Strike Pokémon. Just as angry in combat, it boasts an incredibly high Sp. Attack stat, which it can use to great effect in both its Therian and Incarnate forms. The rest of its stats are also pretty well-rounded making it a great option for any team. It really does sum up the force of Mother Nature, even if it does look a bit like an old man/robot/mythological creature.

18. Galvantula

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Loosely based around a tarantula is Galvantula, a yellow arachnid Pokémon. Its body consists of a head and abdomen and its head is a cheery yellow on top and light purple on the bottom. It is one of the most unique and beautifully coloured spider-based Pokémon, introduced in generation 5, and is known widely as the EleSpider Pokemon. As a dual Electric and Bug type Pokemon, its main features are its high speed stat and the epic ability to shoot out Sticky Webs, which slow the target down and make the speed difference even greater. Does this mean that spiderman in the Pokemon Universe is yellow? That's a question for another day!

17. Electivire

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
This Electric type Pokemon from Generation 4 is a live wire! It has the highest attack value out of all the Electric-types and it can make up for its lower speed using the Motor Drive ability, which lets it become faster when hit by Electric moves - plus it can learn all elemental punch moves. It's a real heavyweight in battle and thus known as the Thunderbolt Pokemon! It is also known for its bizarre appearance, which definitely make it look intimidating in battle, but is a little creepy and scary the rest of the time. Perhaps this is because it appears as a little like an alien - and just gets our fear of the unknown going again! Regardless, it has its own little feature in Ugliest Pokemon in the Franchise (but we love them!) but no one can say its design isn't creative!

16. Heliolisk

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
From Generation 6 there is Heliolisk, known as the Generator Pokémon. A dual Electric and Normal type Pokemon, it also comes with some rich and mysterious folklore. It is said that a now-vanished desert culture treasured these Pokémon and that when Heliolisk came to the Galar region, treasure came with them. It will also come handy in the eco revolution as it promotes renewable energy sources. Heliolisk can generate sufficient electricity to power a skyscraper, simply by flaring open its frill. When its frill is flared while it basks in the sun, it can generate enough electricity to power an entire city. This electricity can be used to stimulate its muscles, which boosts the strength in its legs, allowing it to sprint a hundred yards in five seconds. Super clever and eco friendly! After evolving from Helioptile with a Sun Stone, this clever Pokémon becomes a versatile powerhouse with very high Sp. Attack and Speed. It can even learn Surf which also makes having a Heliolisk in your team very practical. It is also immune to Ghost-type moves - this is one of the coolest Pokemon you will ever meet! Electric types are bringing it.

15. Tapu Koko

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
One of the Guardians of the Alolan Melemele Island and a member of the Four Tapu Land Spirit Pokémon, Tapu Koko is loosely based on a rooster and is influenced somewhat by the incredible and beautiful Maori culture in real life. It is an incredible magical looking dual Electric and Fairy type Pokemon, first introduced in Generation 7, observant, helpful, playful and a good judge of character. Naturally, as a defender of its area/territory, it possesses an explosive temper, which could also come in handy in combat. It has the highest Speed value among Fairy-types and his offensive capabilities and overall well-rounded stats make it a very popular Pokémon in competitive teams. Its ability to create an Electric Terrain upon entering the battlefield makes for great synergy with other electric-types as well.

14. Zekrom

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
The main legendary Pokémon for Generation 5’s White version is known as the Deep Black Pokémon. A bit ironic, I know. This incredible dark and shadowy dual Dragon/Electric-type Pokemon can scorch the world with lightning and assists those who want to build an ideal world. It likes to help those who pursue their ideas and fight for their beliefs. It is known to be part of the Tao Trio, along with Reshiram and Kyurem and can create electricity in its tail. Concealing itself in lightning clouds, it flies throughout the Unova region.

13. Alolan Raichu

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
A cute little rodent styled Pokemon that just so happens to be the evolved form of Pikachu! A dual-type Electric/Psychic regional form, it evolves from Pikachu when exposed to a Thunder Stone. Its Alolan form introduced in Generation 7, it is a Pokemon with a very high Speed and even higher Sp. Attack than its prevolved famous form, alongside powerful moves such as Thunderbolt and Psychic. Possibly one of the coolest newer additions from the gen 7 Alolan monsters.

12. Raichu

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
The evolved form of Pikachu, original style! The more iconic version of the two remains the original Raichu, part of Generation 1 and the original 151. Comparing the two, its stats are a bit more distributed than the Alolan version, with its Attack and Sp. Attack values being equivalent. This makes physical moves such as Wild Charge or Thunder Punch much more viable here. Ash’s Pikachu has always been particularly reluctant to accept a Thunder Stone, but it needn't be as this mouse like critter, albeit not quite as famous, is at a whole new level!

11. Xurkitree

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Known as the Glowing Pokemon, this Ultra Beast pure Electric-type Pokemon has the highest base Sp. Attack among all Electric-types, along with overall high stats, which is why a new nickname the “ultimate electric sweeper” has appeared amongst competitive players. Introduced in Generation 7, it appears as like a bunch of cable wires with a big star like head and perhaps its design has been inspired by neurons throughout the body, which carry electric impulses. One of the most powerful Electric type Pokemon and unique creatures to ever grace the Pokemon Franchise.

10. Eelektross

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
An eel-like Pokémon that resembles a lamprey, with a long tentacle-like, finned limb extending from its head. This electrically-charged fishy Pokémon from Generation 5 is known as the Ele Fish Pokemon and it comes with many tricks up its slimy sleeve. Being a pure Electric-type, it should only be weak to Ground-type moves, but the Levitate ability grants it total immunity from Ground based attacks, meaning that this incredible critter has no elemental weaknesses whatsoever! Moves such as Giga Drain give it plenty of stamina in battle and, thanks to having a wide roster of moves from many other elements, such as Flamethrower, it’s also an offensive force to be reckoned with. No wonder it's a sure fire favourite among competitive players!

8. Rotom

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
A dual Electric and Ghost type that unusually has the power to possess electrical appliances and acquire some of their characteristics. Super versatile and a real wildcard to have in your team, this Generation 4 Plasma Pokemon has many different forms it can take. One of its most powerful forms is Rotom-W, adopted after possessing a washing-machine - it sounds bizarre but turns the ghostly critter into a dual Electric/Water type beast with Levitate ability, making it weak only to Grass-type moves. Rotom-Heat is another incredibly powerful Rotom Appliance Form - while it has four times weakness to Ground Type moves and a neutral weakness to Rock and Water, it comes with a plethora of relevant resistances. There is just nothing like this adorable but unique Pokemon in the Franchise and it would definitely come in handy in the kitchen too. In Pokémon Sun and Moon it’s also seen possessing a Pokédex, turning it into the Rotom-dex. It's just so cool!

7. Pikachu

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Putting Pikachu first would be way too easy! Famed and adored the world over, and pretty much the face of the Pokemon Franchise, this iconic Electric rodent deserves credit for its accomplishments. It’s the face of many games such as Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Detective Pikachu as the titular character, the latter of which even spawned a live-action movie starring Ryan Reynolds as the yellow furball. Not just a modern movie star, it has also appeared in Super Smash Bros. ever since the N64 era, although its design has changed over the years going from a chubby little rascal to a cutesy slimmed-down rodent. That said, the old design has clearly not been forgotten by the developers who included it as the basis of the Gigantamax form from Pokémon Sword & Shield.

6. Cosplay Pikachu

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
What is cuter than Pikachu you ask? It's got to be Cosplay Pikachu, dressed up in different costumes and outfits that just ooze cuteness, a very special Pikachu available exclusively in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. There are many unique looks to be found, such as the varied cap-wearing versions, which are adorable. But one in particular that presents actual differences in combat is the female Pikachu wearing a black heart on its tail - it possesses the ability to wear costumes that allow it to learn specific moves - such as Draining Kiss with the Pop Star outfit, or Icicle Crash with the Belle getup. It is also known to have made an appearance in Pokken, the Pokémon fighting game, as Pikachu Libre. This look later became a costume for the character in Super Smash Bros Ultimate too!

5. Ampharos

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Introduced in Generation 2, Ampharos is another fan famed favourite that everyone adores. Back when it was introduced, it was probably one of the best Electric type Pokemon you could get early on in the game (right after the first gym in Violet City). It’s been a staple of Electric-type themed teams in both single-player and competitive play ever since! The introduction of Mega Ampharos takes its already great Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense to a whole new level, while giving it a new dual Electric/Dragon typing, which makes moves like Dragon Pulse especially powerful. It has such a cute and bizarre design that the Pokemon fan art community can't seem to get enough of!

4. Magnezone

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Known as the Magnet Area Pokemon, this robotic Generation 4 Pokemon beast is a dual Electric/Steel type powerhouse with not only incredibly high Sp. Attack values, but the Magnet Pull ability, that keeps any Steel type Pokemon from fleeing battle and keeps them right where it wants them. So if a Steel-type is unlucky enough to find itself fighting this UFO looking thing, there’s no chance of running away before being blasted out of existence with moves like Thunderbolt and Flash Cannon.

3. Raikou

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Known as the Thunder Pokemon, this Johto legendary Pokemon from Generation 2 is a formidable force in and out of combat, with exceptionally good Attack and Sp. Attack values, and very nice Speed to go with it. Its HP and Sp. Defense are also through the roof, meaning it is incredibly successful at wearing out opponents and possesses incredible stamina in combat. The first couple of games had some of the most amazing Electric-type Pokémon, and this Johto legendary is one of them. It appears as a tiger like Pokemon, with a curly purple mane and armour like appendages.

2. Zapdos

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
Zapdos is a legendary bird Pokémon that has the ability to control electricity. Usually found living in thunderclouds (as you do!) it also relies on its Pressure ability to wear down its enemies, although this dual Electric/Flying type creature already has incredible stats in almost every area. These powerful stats and few weaknesses make this thunderbird a well loved, old school Generation 1 competitive staple. Its typing means it also possesses a great advantage over all other legendary birds of its generation (including Lugia), with moves such as Thunder Shock alongside Drill Peck. It's said that when Zapdos rubs its feathers together, lightning will fall immediately after.

1. Jolteon

Best Electric type Pokemon in battle
What is the best Electric type Pokemon? Taking into account every aspect, including power, looks, and popularity, Jolteon has to bag the top spot. Appearing as a mammalian, Eevee shaped, adorable spiky yellow critter and the Electric evolution of much adored Eeevee, this adorable Electric type Pokemon from Generation 1 is a fan art favourite and is also known as the Lightening Pokemon. It accumulates negative ions in the atmosphere to blast out 10,000-volt lightning bolts. If it is angered or startled, the fur all over its body bristles like sharp needles. Not that it needs any further defense mechanisms as it’s also extremely effective in combat thanks to its great Speed and Sp. Attack that guarantee a powerful first hit in any battle. It's also able to learn powerful Special moves from other types, such as Shadow Ball, making it incredibly versatile in combat. Jolteon’s Volt Absorb ability is also an incredible speciality this Pokemon boasts, which heals its HP when taking any Electric damage, making it immune to Electric based attacks. Jolteon has reigned supreme over Electric types since the beginning of the franchise and is one electrifying cookie to contend with that no one can ever forget!
