10. Jormungand mafia-anime

Here we follow Koko, Jonah, and the rest of crew as they travel the world selling weapons under the international shipping company HCLI. Kicking off the list, this addictive anime series is as badass as it sounds, but there is more beneath the surface. Koko Hekmatyar is an international arms dealer who recruits reluctant and conflict raised Jonah to be one of her bodyguards, along with her squad of ex special ops soldiers. Averse to the idea of more conflict and violence, he finds himself tasked with protecting Koko and has no escape from the scary world in which he has entered, one full of assassins and danger everywhere, plus the CIA is always one step behind them! The plot line and story of this anime leads it to be put in the genres of action and adventure, but there are many themes running through. Koko is such a cool and multifaceted character! As a guns merchant she encounters many chaotic situations where the line between right or wrong is easily crossed, which ensues a lot of different sides to her personality being revealed and enables us to see her develop as a character also.

9. Re:Creators anime

A kind of reverse isekai anime tv show, we meet our main protagonist, Souta Mizushino, who is a young high school student anime fan and dreams of being a writer, but constantly has writer's block. He is watching the anime adaptation of novel Elemental Symphony of Vogelchevalier for inspiration, when the whole anime does a complete 80's 'Aha - Take on Me' moment that results in him getting pulled in to the anime! We thought we were addicted. He gets isekai’d into the anime he watched to witness a battle situation between the anime's character Selesia and a mysterious girl wearing a military uniform.

After managing to return with Selesia to the real world, he realises that a lot of fictional characters end up travelling along with him and are now free to run amock in his world. These include those that are aligned with the military uniform princess, who are willing to do her bidding based on false promises and are unaware of her true intentions to bring untold destruction to every world that exists. We have to wonder, did this also happen to C.S.Lewis when he wrote Narnia?

8. Terror in Resonance drama-anime

An incredibly in depth and fascinating anime that explores the story of two badass boys who attack a nuclear facility and soon become known as terrorists throughout the whole of Japan - but the only clue to their identity is a bizarre internet video! Going by the names Nine and Twelve, these characters challenge the government and police forces with all of the havoc they wreak upon the city. They should not exist, yet they stand strong in a world of deception and secrets while they make the city fall around them. Such a must watch anime and nothing short of totally badass!

7. Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple anime

One of the best fighting anime that is an old school classic and is iconic in its own right! It tells the story of a weak and timid boy named Kenichi Shirahama who, a bit like Spiderman or Kickass, studies many different styles of martial arts and undergoes training in order to turn into a badass op character, in order to defend himself and his loved ones. His progression is so fun and satisfying to watch and learning all kinds of different fighting styles results in his own super cool transformation, he fuses all the styles together to create his own unique signature fighting style to overcome every challenge!

In a world where future where humanity has been driven to endangerment by giant beasts, feast your eyes on this outrageously good offering of romance, action, drama, with an amazing soundtrack and beautiful animation style, not to mention amazing character development. The story of this badass anime is set at the edge of humanity's extinction, in a post-apocalyptic world, where we follow a badass female lead named “zero two” in a future where children of that time are raised in places known as Plantations. They are taught to pilot mechs which are used to fight against monsters that pose a threat to human life. An elite Franxx pilot with klaxosaur blood, red horns, and an infamous reputation as the "Partner Killer", it is rumored that Zero Two's partners are killed after pairing with her by the third time. One of the most badass anime girls out there for sure - if you want badass anime characters look no further and give this epic creation a watch!

5. Kill La Kill ecchi-anime

We follow schoolgirl Ryuko Matoi on her search for her father's killer in this super satisfying unique anime story filled with action, super powers, comedy, ecchi, badass female characters, and more, all within in a school setting. She falls quickly in to violent conflict with Satsuki Kiryuin, the iron-willed student council president of Honnouji Academy and in the school's brutally competitive hierarchy, Satsuki bestows upon those at the top special clothes called "Goku Uniforms," which grant the wearer unique superhuman abilities. When she is undoubtably beaten by one of the students in their powerful uniform, Ryuko retreats - that is until she stumbles across Senketsu, a rare and sentient "Kamui," or God Clothes. After gaining immense power from her newly awakened entity, main character Ryuuko is now powerful enough to stand up to her enemies and defeat them. One of the best anime series where the mc is op and badass - that is so utterly satisfying to watch!

4. Inuyashiki anime

This anime begins with Ichirou Inuyashiki, an older male protagonist with a sad backstory. Constantly rejected and overlooked by his family, he experiences life getting older while being incredibly lonely, apart from the comfort he finds in the company of his rescue pup Hanako. With more bad news and his time running out, he ends up having an emotional breakdown and runs off to a nearby field to weep with his dog by his side. Through tears, he just about notices a strange figure standing in front of him. Suddenly, through some kind of explosion event, he awakes to find himself transformed to have been reborn as a mechanized weapon or cyborg wearing the skin of his former self. With strange new powers, he is able to save others, which brings him great joy, happiness and hope, but the origins of these powers are a mystery.

There is another component to this anime. A teenager that was near him at the time of the explosion, Shishigami Hiro, also became transformed the same as Ichiro, but unlike Inuyashiki, Shishigami becomes a psychopath who goes about using his newfound abilities to murder various people, from classmates that annoy him to innocent families, including young children, just for amusement. The two are like light and dark and at some point must clash, but the origins of their strange powers are not clear.

3. Cowboy Bebop classic anime

Cowboy Bebop boasts some of the best badass anime characters of all time within its super cool futuristic world of 2071! Within the anime, humans have been able to colonize most of the solar system, which is now carefully regulated by an outer planetary or space police force that are often assisted by outlawed bounty hunters known as “cowboys”. Here we follow a ragtag group of bounty hunters chasing down the galaxy's most hardened criminals with some hilarious comedy too - it's a lot like Guardians of the Galaxy! There are fans (us included) who would love a mashup between this anime and Guardians of the Galaxy - it would be one of the best anime mashups ever. This classic anime tv show is also well known for having one of the best dub versions of all anime shows. One of the best anime series for sure.

2. Psycho Pass badass anime

A super cool badass anime that gives me strong Matrix vibes for some reason and is set in dystopian 22nd-century Japan where it is possible to instantaneously measure and quantify a person's propensity towards criminality using a cymatic scanner. In this reality, people have their brains scanned, so that the level of “evilness” can be measured and this way, they can prevent crime before it happens. The scan results are processed in to an indexed Psycho-Pass, a number that will determine your value in society, as well as your right to live in freedom, under observation, in custody or... not live at all. Is this anime like the Matrix? Not particularly - though only to the effect that it carries a futuristic theme and feel - and shares some similar themes - and of course, the badass rebellious characters!

1. Katekyo Hitman Reborn anime

An outstandingly well made anime that incorporates a whole range of characters, themes and ideas, it is a huge anime series that will keep you on the edge of your seat pressing the 'next episode' button again and again! It's such an addictive anime series. One of the best anime of all time, we start off following our clumsy and timid main character Tsunayoshi Sawada struggling to keep up in high school, until he meets a baby, who just happens to be a hitman, who is sent specially to turn him into a badass mafia boss. Like a badass baby fairy godmother in infant form, it reveals that he is next in line to become boss of the Vongola family, a powerful Mafia organization. It's a bit like The Princess Diaries - but more badass and weirder - he will have to learn everything about the mafia world and all of the fighting skills he needs for the job through this hitman baby. It is such an enjoyable and riveting watch and watching it for the first time is everything - but you will also want to watch it again and again and again! Definitely one of the coolest babies in anime.
