Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
Phoar! It's getting hot in the kitchen with these hugely powerful Fire Type Pokemon Moves that are carefully designed to knock the stuffing out of your opponents in every kind of combat. When it comes to Fire Types it's definitely go big or go home! For starters, there’s no denying that burn is easily the more powerful status condition in the Pokémon franchise. It also happens that the best fire type moves are built to have a percentage chance to burn. Check out this list ranking the strongest fire moves in Pokémon, with some of the most overpowered Pokemon moves ever!

20. Blaze Kick

Coolest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
A 95 accuracy physical move that has 85 power, which means some great numbers considering that the move comes with an increased critical hit rate. However, in the grand scheme of Pokemon fire moves, Blaze Kick is a bit meh compared to the more powerful fire type options worth shouting about. It says more about the quality of fire moves overall, rather than anything to do with Blaze Kick being bad. In any other list it really would be up there! However, some of the best Pokémon in the entire franchise are fire types - and the pure carnal strength of their moves reflect that. Blaze Kick could easily be in the top 10 of another type-class, but for this list, it sinks right now unnoticed.

19. Incinerate

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
A move that isn’t specifically meant to be used to deal damage, Incinerate actually takes us from an 85 power move to a 60 power one! This move carries the bonus effect of burning up any berry that the target is holding, rendering it unusable. When used appropriately, a well-timed incinerate can completely throw your opponent off their game plan, making it a technical move that packs absolutely massive potential - but is quite difficult to use effectively. If you know what you're doing with this one, it can pack a huge punch.

18. Heat Crash

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
A physical attack that has an accuracy of 100, its damage is determined by how much heavier the user is compared to the target, which is really cool because it makes the battle more realistic and gives me the mental image of my Emboar literally just throwing itself on top of its opponent as an attack! The formula the game uses to calculate the damage is r = UserWeight / TargetWeight, where r is ratio. Depending on what number r equals, it falls into a certain damage bracket. It’s complicated, but makes for one of the most realistic Pokemon moves in battle, as real life would dictate that, more often than not, the heaviest and weightiest beast would reign supreme by overpowering its target.

17. Flame Charge

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
Albeit potentially the weakest fire move on this list, with only 50 damage dealt and pointless with the pure intention of dealing damage, Flame Charge does have one additional effect that completely overshadows the lack of power. Whenever Flame Charge is used, the user will also gain one stage of speed. If you are using it for the speed buff, you get some extra damage on the side. This makes it a great option for certain sweepers and Pokémon that need that extra bit of speed to outperform some of the faster and heavier hitters in the meta right now (and it’s also great for in-game play too).

16. Overheat

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
With 130 power and 90 accuracy, Overheat is going to be debuffing you, in exchange for some serious damage output, making it a great and powerful move to have up your sleeve. For the price of losing two stages of special attack, you get to clobber your opponent with a ton of fire. It's so useful when used correctly, just be sure to time your usage right as you’re not going to be hitting anything hard afterward.

15. Eruption

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
An incredibly powerful move, boasting 150 special power and 100 accuracy, as well as no immediate drawbacks for using it, Eruption seems like the perfect choice on paper. The power it wields is based on the total HP of the Pokémon using it. It is only a little weird as to which Pokemon can actually learn it! Only three fire Pokemon are able to learn and wield it, known to be Entei, Groudon and Torkoal. I don’t know why, but I figure it’s better not to question it. The Pokemon game creators seemed to have that little meme moment 'I am so random I can't believe I just did that!'

14. Lava Plume

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
Compared to Eruption as a move, where how it calculates damage can get complicated, Lava Plume is refreshingly simple! It boasts 80 power along with 100 accuracy, and carries a 30% chance of burning your opponent. Not only easy to use and convenient, not needing all the planning ahead that comes with certain moves *looking at you Incinerate*. At the same time it’s powerful, accurate, and comes with a great burn chance, everything you want from a Fire Type move!

13. Searing Shot

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
This clever yet unusual power move happens to be Victini's signature move - a bit like Victini itself! Given that the move is actually quite powerful, it’s unusual that almost nobody is talking about the potential Victini could have in the future. Think of it as like a better and improved Lava Plume; it carries 100 power, 100 accuracy, and a 30% burn chance. Victini is so cute, I remember it being the first event Pokémon I ever got, way back in Generation 5. It could be argued that for a Pokémon that’s incredibly interesting, creative and quirky, the move doesn't share its creative flair. For me, I'm not necessarily looking for originality in the heat of battle though, just convenient and powerful!

12. Sacred Fire

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
Known to be Ho-oh's signature move, Sacred Fire is a physical attack that boasts a power of 100 and an accuracy of 95. Although it's true that Searing Shot is more accurate, Sacred Fire also has a 50% chance of inflicting burn, rather than a 30% chance, which can mean everything in battle, it's such a powerful difference. It's worth mentioning that, on any other list, these moves are so powerful and would surely grace one of the top spots, but fire types seem to just be built differently and there is so much fierce competition for those top five spots.

11. Magma Storm

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
Magma Storm is Heatran’s signature ability. You could easily rank this one and Sacred Fire the same, you could swap either of them for the other. In this case, you’ve got a 100 power special attack that saps 1/8 of your opponent’s health for four to five turns. Incredibly powerful and amazing on paper, but its qualm is that the move only has 75 accuracy. It's super low, especially for signature moves and probably too low for the power damage that Magma Storm can do.

10. Blue Flare

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
A 130 power special move that has 85 accuracy, Blue Flare is easily the most powerful fire legendary signature move in the series. The move packs such a powerful punch, it makes the lack of precision worth it - especially as on top of that damage, the move carries a 20% chance of inflicting burn. There are those who want to see the world burn and they love this move and the power that it wields.

9. Blast Burn

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
A move that could be considered as a nuclear option in Pokemon battle, dropping a Blast Burn on your opponent means that you're also trading its demise for whatever Pokemon is using the move, it truly is formidable. Needless to say, it is stronger than Blue Flare, with 150 special damage and 90 accuracy. It’s just an outright more powerful move, albeit one without any chance to burn your opponent. It will also require the user to recharge the turn after you use it so watch out for that.

8. Flare Blitz

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
Considered an oldie but a goodie, Flare Blitz is known as one of the best OG fire type moves that has since been seen in battle going back generations of Pokemon fans. Uniquely, it’s a physical move, with 100 accuracy to complement its 120 power, meaning it can deal an incredibly precise and guaranteed big chunk of damage, which would be fantastic on paper, except that the chunk of damage comes out of both Pokémon. Flare Blitz takes 1/3 of the damage it does in recoil, which can be scary if you end up OHKO’ing your opponent. It also has a 10% chance of inflicting burn, which is important to note but may be something of an afterthought.

7. Heatwave

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
Game Freak has since changed its special power from 100 to 95, but kept its 90 accuracy and 10% burn chance, yet Heatwave is one of the few examples in Pokémon history where a move gets a nerf, and yet still remains used at the top of competitive play. Heatwave is known as a reliable and powerful fire-type move that has that nice handy benefit of burning every now and again - it's pretty much a superior version to the 90 power move archetype known to dominate competitive play.

6. Burn Up

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
An unusual Fire Type move that was introduced in Pokémon Sun & Moon, Burn Up is pretty new and doesn't see as much play as its fellow moves at the top of the VCG mountain. That said, it really is an incredibly powerful move that boasts 130 damage and 100 accuracy - with an unusual qualm added. When your Pokémon uses Burn Up, it loses its fire typing. This can be much more of an issue than you might initially realize as it means that your Pokémon will lose access to all of its STAB. This could be the reason why this move isn’t used all that much, it's a little bit problematic! Even though it carries one of the biggest gambles, it still is an incredibly powerful option for more casual gameplay where mechanics like STAB don’t matter so often. It is here for its sheer power and abilities in combat - despite its complexity!

5. Sunny Day

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
An in depth move that entire teams can be built around, Sunny Day is a weather condition move that has massive potential. When used it causes sunlight that lasts for five turns. During those turns, fire type moves will deal 50% more damage. It also carries the benefit that Water type moves deal 50% less damage, along with a lot more benefits and cool effects that boost the potential of other specific moves and abilities. It's also one of the coolest Pokemon move animations to observe, or maybe I just love the summer too much.

4. Sizzly Slide

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
It’s fair to say this move is stupidly powerful. It’s a 90 power/100 accuracy physical move that guarantees burn, a move that made the Let’s Go games entire story comically easy, but possesses a strange and less powerful name that makes me think of candy shop/sweet store gummy fizzy snakes. Maybe Game Freak had their 'I am so random I can't believe I just did that' meme hat on again. Funnily, Slizzy Slide should technically be number one on this list. But considering how overpowered these moves are, especially given that we’re unlikely ever to see them again, it lands on this spot out of frustration - especially for the biggest unanswered question of all - why can an Eevee learn this? More funny names of moves from this group include Bouncy Bubble, Buzzy Buzz, Glitzy Glow, Baddy Bad, Sappy Seed and Freezy Frost. What even is Baddy Bad?

3. Flamethrower

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
The move that maybe you arrived at this list expecting. A special attack with 100 accuracy and 90 power, it also carries a 90% chance to inflict burn. Flamethrower is a really, really nice attacking move for special attacking fire types in both competitive and casual play, and is the perfect example of a fire type move, ultra powerful, formidable and everything that makes fire type moves crazy impressive and ahead of the game. A brilliant solid and consistent move to reach for that is dependable, exerts a massive amount of power and eliminates as much RNG from your battles as possible.

2. Pyro Ball

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
Known to be the signature move of Cinderace, it carries not only a 10% burn chance archetype that also deals physical damage, but boasts 120 power along with 90 accuracy - yes really! It also seems to carry no drawbacks, as well, although that's if you have a Cinderace - as it is known to be the only Pokémon capable of learning and wielding Pyro Ball. If otherwise, pretty much everything would be on fire!

1. Will-O-Wisp

Best Strongest Fire Type Pokemon Moves
A move that really shows how powerful burn is, Will-O-Wisp has the highest burn infliction chance out of any non-legendary move in the game. Burn is its only effect but the move has 75 accuracy, meaning it’s a base 75% chance of burn and having bascially on-demand burn is pretty much THE most powerful trick up your sleeve as you can reap so much devastation. Even if the move misses one out of four times, dealing this move is more than worth the risk you take by playing it.
