Best Strongest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves

Best Strongest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves
Quirky and mischevious are two great words to describe Fairy Type Pokemon - and they have some adorable and equally creative Fairy Type moves to match! Game Freak really outdid themselves with cute names for these Fairy Type moves, but as some (me) may say, names can be deceiving. If you are on the other end of any of these deadly damage dealing Fairy moves, it's anything but cute. Apart from the one where you get decorated like a cookie by Alcremie, but that's an exception. Despite only having a handful of moves to the type’s name, there are some seriously powerful fairy maneuvers, which means that Fairy Types are doing their bit to catch up with the OGs. To highlight just how strong some of these moves are, what better way other than to rank the absolute best fairy moves within Pokemon knowledge so far!

What is the strongest fairy-type move?

16. Light of Ruin

Prettiest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves
An unreleased move that was exclusive to Eternal Flower Floette back in Generation 6, Light of Ruin is technically a Pokémon X and Y move that maybe shouldn’t be on this list. It seems to exist only in the games data files, a piece of Pokemon history as it is now thought to be cancelled, but still deserves a footnote in this article. If this move still stuck around, it may have flown up right near to the top part of this list as a special move that had a power of 140 and an accuracy of 90. It would have been a fair gamble of a move, taking 50% of the damage that’s done, which is a pretty big drawback. Whether taking a 50% hit would have been worth the 140 power behind the move, we may never know, but it certainly would have been something worth talking about.

15. Misty Terrain

Best prettiest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves
This archetype of move tends to have a bunch of different benefits, depending on what kind of terrain you’re dealing with, making them seriously powerful when used right. They basically create terrain that envelopes the field and replaces the background environment and any other terrain that is already in effect. In the case of Misty Terrain, you get to halve the damage done by dragon type attacks, and prevent status conditions from being inflicted on any of your grounded Pokémon (including confusion). It creates a low-lying mist lasting 5 turns.

14. Misty Explosion

Best prettiest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves
A sword and shield move that is a little unusual as it means your Pokémon kamikazes itself in order to deal a 100 power special attack to the rest of the Pokémon on the field. It's good to use alongside moves such as Misty Terrain, which will then boost the damage it does. It's a curious move that doesn't quite compete with others on this list but certainly deserves a mention!

13. Strange Steam

Best coolest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves
Known as the signature move of Galarian Weezing, it is a special attack with 90 power, that carries 95 accuracy, with also a 20% chance to cause confusion, which is pretty nice. Strange kind of doesn't really come in to this move, it is a powerful and reliable option that comes with a bonus effect, even if it’s exclusive to an otherwise under-used Pokémon. Although, that said, since the arrival of Regigigas, Galarian Weezing has come to be one of the most powerful and widely-used Pokémon in existence, even if it is a passing phase type deal!

12. Spirit Break

Best coolest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves
A physical move with 75 power and 100 accuracy, it is known to be the signature move of the dark and grisly looking Grimmsnarl, and might be considered fair to mediocre on its own - but there is a further effect! It guarantees your opponent loses one stage of special attack, which considerably improves it for use in combat. This damage dealing Fairy Type move was first introduced in Generation 8 and strangely looks very pretty, in contrast to the harsh and wizened appearance of its wielder Grimmsnarl.

11. Fleur Cannon

Best coolest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves
Which Pokemon can learn Fleur Cannon? It is known to be the signature move of mythical Pokemon Magearna and is a legendary signature move that’s actually available in-game, but was first released as an event Pokémon. It’s a special move with 130 power and 90 accuracy, making it a pretty darn powerful move to use and one of the stronger fairy type moves in the series. Its only qualm is that, in return, it lowers the user’s special attack by two stages, which is important to consider in battle. This damage-dealing Fairy-type move hails from Generation 7 and is definitely pretty to behold, as pretty as its name might suggest! Pretty but deadly, potentially for both parties in combat.

Fleur Cannon can be seen as the Fairy equivalent of moves like Overheat, Draco Meteor, and Leaf Storm. They all have 130 base power and harshly lower the user's Special Attack afterward.

10. Floral Healing

Best coolest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves
Some may argue that non-legendary Fairy Types get away with too much these days. Namely getting their own signature moves! Known as the signature move of Comfey, known as the Posy Picker Pokemon - which is such a delightful and romantic nickname and intermediate level toungetwister in equal parts - and Floral Healing is actually remarkably powerful considering the gentle Pokémon that wields it. All the move does is heal up to half of the target’s HP, which sounds simple and unassuming, but an on-demand heal like this is incredibly useful and doesn’t need anything fancy to have the potential to turn a whole battle around!

9. Play Rough

Best coolest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves
Slightly dodgy name aside that kind of sounds like something got lost in translation, Play Rough is a physical attack with both 90 power and accuracy, as well as carrying a 10% chance to lower the target’s attack. Not only pretty powerful, it's one of the most accessible Fairy Type moves out there as almost every single critter of Fairy typing can learn it. Because of this, it may be one of the most common fairy type moves you see used universally. This move falls into the 90 power competitive meta that so many other moves do, which is why you sometimes see it at the top level of competitive play. This damage-dealing Fairy-type move was first introduced in Generation 6.

8. Nature’s Madness

Best coolest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves
A simple move that eats your opponent's HP exactly in half, Nature’s Madness is a signature move of Tapus, and it’s just as well because it’s super op especially in doubles. It’s going to eat through any walls your opponent tries to throw at you, especially in doubles where you can complement it with another attacker.

7. Decorate

Best coolest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves
One of the funniest and quirkiest Pokemon moves that is so delightful, although only Alcremie can learn it, it basically means that Alcremie will decorate its opponent, which is the most charming battle response ever! That being said, it’s a move that is actually pretty powerful as Decorate sharply raises the target’s attack and special attack. At times like these you can only be grateful for Fairy Types and their fun but mischevious nature - can you imagine a Garchomp being covered in frosting and cake decorations?

6. Charm

Best coolest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves
A move that has been around since the GSC days, making it one of the oldest moves to get the fairy makeover treatment. It’s a simple move that is, more or less, the opposite of Decorate. Rather than raising the stats of the target, it lowers its attack by two stages. The Pokémon in question will achieve this by staring at the opponent in a particularly loving, strange and charming way to make it less weary. It may sound pretty suggestive… but all’s fair in love and war, I guess.

5. Sparkly Swirl

Best coolest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves
A perfectly, well, fairy-like sounding special move, it is unique to Eevee and carries 90 power with 100 accuracy. As well as dealing damage, it also heals all the status conditions of your party Pokémon, so is incredibly powerful and useful to have. It unfortunately belongs to that funny group of OP moves with very funny names, although is not as bad as Baddy Bad or Sizzly Slide, and actually conjures up a delightful image this time around. Think of this move like Aromatherapy on steroids, and that’s pretty much all you need to know.

4. Dazzling Gleam

Best coolest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves
A move that sounds equally as desirable as Sparkly Swirl, Dazzling Gleam is a special move with 80 power and 100 accuracy, as well as the ability to also inflict damage on all adjacent opponents. It means you essentially trade-off 10 power for the ability to hit both of your opponent’s Pokémon, which is so so worth it. Because of this, this damage-dealing Fairy-type move from Generation 6 has indeed a dazzling reputation and I don’t think there’s a fairy move in competitive that’s used more than Dazzling Gleam. That’s almost entirely because the competitive format is doubles, and this move hits all of your opponents, which is just pure awesomeness.

3. Moonblast

Best coolest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves
Borrowing the power of the moon, the user attacks the target. With a power of 95 and accuracy of 100, which is higher than most other special type attacking moves you see in the meta, plus a 30% chance of lowering your target’s special attack by one stage, deciding between this move and Dazzling Gleam is just so difficult! Moonblast is both a special and damage dealing Fairy Type move first introduced in Generation 6 and is pretty darn powerful, one of the most powerful Fairy moves in the game. Moonblast isn't a TM, TR, HM, or Move Tutor move. Thirty-nine Pokémon can learn it by leveling up and two, Alolan Vulpix and Cutiefly, can learn it by Breeding. Furthermore, two event-exclusive Pokémon - Kimia's Shiny Gardevoir and Tanabata Jirachi - came with the move.

2. Moonlight

Best coolest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves
A powerful heal-on-demand move that rarely gets the limelight it truly deserves, Moonlight, much like Charm, has been around since the GSC days and looks remarkably simple on paper: It’s just an HP regen move. However, the amount of HP you get is influenced by the weather, which is so cool! Not only that, it offers you a generous amount compared to a lot of other healing moves in the games, it's so so valuable and definitely deserves a place at the top as it is truly in a league of its own.

1. Lets Snuggle Forever

Best coolest Fairy Type Pokemon Moves
I couldn't not put this baby first, based on how powerful it actually is! First introduced in Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon The Z-version move of Play Rough, Let's Snuggle Forever is also Mimikyu's exclusive Z-Move. As such, in order to be used, Mimikyu must know Play Rough and the trainer must have a Mimikium Z Crystal. It has an insanely high 190 base power and is only affected by the use of a King's Rock. Let's Snuggle Forever affects both the targets and the user's ally Pokémon.
